It's July already?

This year has flown by. Sometimes you want it to slow down a bit, but when it does is when the days get monotonous and trying. These summer days aren't that trying so far. Let's just hope that it keeps on going that way.

I wanted to write a little bit tonight just to warm up, but also write a little bit more about my girlfriend. We get along great. Life with her is terrific fun.

This weekend we took a drive, and it was one of those nice summer drives that I've written about from time to time on here, and we listened to music really loud. It hit me that it doesn't seem to get better than this. I could live that way the rest of my life; music playing and the clouds overhead that seem to be moving above you just as fast as you are moving on the ground. My stomach was full and my heart was too. My mind was calm and my pulse was racing. I was young and old. It was that same feeling that I had during Bonnaroo; the feeling of unlimited possibility. I always write either in here or in my notebook about that feeling, and it pops up right under my nose.

These are precious times, my friends. Precious times indeed. Because these are such precious times, I decided to put some songs on here that will hopefully lighten your load and fill your head with that sweet summertime feeling that only a tall glass of lemonade, a pair of shorts, and the love of someone who makes you so goddamned horny that the crack of dawn should look out around you (that's not my saying-it's Tom Waits').

Included is a tune by a great prog rock band called Audience, which includes one of my favorite lyrics right now "One wife will make you happy, two will make you dead". Sure it's mean-spirited, but it's a great little line.

Next up, because I can't seem to write a blog without sharing some soul music I've found, is a song by The Dynamics called "I Want to Thank You". What a sweet song. Also of note is that it's impossible to feel anything but breezy and wonderful when hearing a black man sing in falsetto. Seriously, it's like those warm summer mornings when you sleep naked and it's just so warm that you have kicked most of the covers off and yet it's kind of chilly so there is a cold breeze blowing up your ass. That's how awesome his voice is.

Finally is a wonderful little song that I first heard Glen Campbell do years ago. It's called "Elusive Butterfly" and the lyrics are some sort of cornball 60s crap, but the sentiment is there.; a sentimental asshole thinking way too long and hard about the one who makes him long and hard. The song is by Bob Lind and it's dying to be used in a Christopher Guest movie.

That's all I have for today. By all means have a good tomorrow, and be good. I'll be back on Thursday sometime for a rather patriotic Project Fridays.

You are amazing and I enjoyed the ride too, My Sweet.

But to maintain the integrity of your blog feel free to respond to this comment in a sarcastic asshole kind of way.
